They’ll probably eat it all on that one day but if it does maybe take it out.

This is a good question, however it should probably be under ‘general antkeeping’. The general anting forum is for the capture/sighting of queen ants.

Ants I have:
1 Formica fusca group- 0 workers
1 Tetramorium immigrans colony-20 workers
1 Dorymyrmex insanus- 1 queen, used to have workers
1 large P. occidentalis colony- around 50 workers, plenty of brood

You could just leave it in there until it starts to mold. They'll eat off of it until then, unless they're full. In that case, you should just remove it immediately.
