Mostly just black light traps. Most others won't aetack queens.

I always find tonnes just wandering over my long pale grey driveway. I walk across it a few hundred times a day going from the front yard to the back, and I find way more queens than I can ever catch.
I may go months without seeing a single queen, then then I will see hundreds.
I may try a blacklight trap this summer and see how it fares. I am curious about our nocturnal fliers up here.
I know many people with pools find lots of alates in there.

I know this isn't a method [it's in fact a method on how not to catch queens!] Don't do what I did last season, be awake from 8pm to 5-6am and not go out during the day, I never found any "Nuptial Flights" and thus had a crummy season, you don't want that trust me!

Yes Crystals, pools are a good trap. I found two of my Lasius flavus only in the small baby pool, we use for our dogs to refresh.
