little over a week and she's already got an egg pile half her size XD. This is my first journal but i'm going to try to update it weekly.

Nice! These lay like crazy! 


Ants I have: Tapinoma sessile(2 queen colony). RED MORPH Camponotus neacticus(now has pupae!), Tetramorium immigrans (x3), Aphaenogaster sp, Temnothorax sp, Brachymyrmex sp.   possibly infertile   :(,  Ponera pennsylvanica, and Pheidole morrisi!  :yahoo: 

 

Other insects: Polistes sp. Queen

                    

Ants I need: Pheidole sp., Trachymyrmex sp., Crematogaster cerasi , Dorymyrmex sp. Most wanted: Pheidole morrisii

hopefully that won't be too large for them, but I think this species adapts fairly easily.

Nice! I found that my queens ate more than half their eggs to use for food so the egg pile does translate directly to nanitics.

I mean, Tetramorium are used to living in places bigger then a small founding chamber, as they have been found to live under pavement. And that pavement often contains big chambers and the queens are tiny compared to it.

One thing to note with that nest; that appears to be THA type 1, or ytong. Tetramorium can chew straight through that stuff. While they may not at first, once they start thinking they need more space, they'll make more space themselves. Just a heads up.

Well if it comes down to that I'll just pick up a bigger nest but I think this size should work for a while at least I hope lmao

Or I put my Aphaenogaster colony in that formicarium and get a different one for them

Tub and tubes set ups are the best for these in my experience.

Tub and tubes set ups are the best for these in my experience.
If you have tubes that is.

I'd do a tube and tub set up but I'm also looking to make it into a display in my room on a shelf so I'd probably go with something professionally made since I suck at making things look good

Take extra steps to seal the glass because Tetras can slip out.

Probably have at least a month or 2 before I really have to get them moved so still some time to figure it all out
