I captured a Camponotus Modoc queen on July 8th and got her into a test tube setup on the 9th. It is a standard setup with about 3/4 water and plugged with cotton. Her tube is in a box with a window covered in red film so I can check on her. Every time I check on her she is pulling at the cotton stoppers and seems stressed out. I tried feeding her a drop of honey and adding a bit of sand to the bottom for her to nest, but nothing has helped her calm down. Is there something wrong with the way I've set her up or should I just continue to leave her be? I can provide additional info if needed. Thanks!
