Right now i'm a bit nervous about it and my mom is scared of them like big time I showed her to get a laughed and she said I am never allowed to bring those to the house but in 2 years ill move out so I might get them down the line i'm starting with Camponotus barbaricus as of right now

I can definitely relate. This is my fifth year keeping ants (my first two year’s we’re not recorded on here), and this is the FIRST year that my parents have let me actually keep my ant colonies inside. They are the definition of paranoid, but eventually they’ll start to relax if you actually show then your colonies and talk to them about your ants. I noticed that my parents have taken more of an interest in what I’m doing in the past month or so, and it’s because I’m not “hiding” this hobby from them anymore. If you ever need help, feel free to ask because I know what’s it’s like to have very unreasonable parents.

Yeah. Don't think i'll need help if the ants never escape and are only in my room I'm completely fine having them. I am more nervous ill mess up cause I know I can prevent their escape

edit: but I can't help but be super excited to keep them
