I need help with a genus for this one, and I can't measure since I don't know where my ruler is. However it is extremely tiny for me.

1. Park area surrounded by fields and farms.
2. 4/25/15
3. Oak forest under a rock
No other. Information yet, as I'm working on it under the microscope right now.image.jpg image.jpg

Any help on a genus to start is what I really need, I've never seen this genus before.

Ants in your area should be similar to Pennsylvania. Here is the link to the Pennsylvannia Antweb

The pictures are not good enough for me to ID it since I am not familiar with ants in your area, it is too blurry.  The gaster itself really narrows it down though.

This is a Ponerine species, possibly Ponera pennsylvanica. We need better pictures for a definitive ID.

Yeah probably Ponera Pennsylvanica as miles said, definately a cool ant!

As others said probably Ponera.
