As long as people follow the format, the more IDs the better since other people can go look back and compare to what they find. Also, if you don't want to ID ants for people you can just ignore the posts. I mean, I just go in to see what they found and take an ID guess of my own (but usually not post it since I'm not an expert and don't trust my ID). Just respond to the posts you want to and ignore the rest. 

 

Edit: Also Aaron567 where do you get those hi-res images of queens of various species?

The super magnified photos don’t look anything like the ants you see in the field. Shots like that would only help me if I had a microscope, which I don’t. The sparsity of other information drives me up the wall. I literally never use those sites.

They're usually just meant to be a reference. I still find both sites useful for identification, but in terms of biology and behavior and the likes they're not very informative.
