1. Location (on a map) of collection:

-Fort Wayne, Indiana. In the suburbs on the outskirts of the city.

https://www.google.c...3!4d-85.1393513

2. Date of collection:

 -July 5, 2020
3. Habitat of collection:

-In the suburbs, close to a highly wooded area with mixed grasslands
4. Length (from head to gaster):

-Approx. 7.5mm, I couldn't get a 100% exact measurement since her movement is very quick, but it's a range between 7-8mm
5. Color, hue, pattern and texture:

-Her gastor is completely black and short.

-Her thorax is a deep red on the top, and on the bottom is a light red, nearly orange color.

-Her legs start at a yellow color at the tip and fade to red as you get closer to the body.

-Her head is larger for queens usually I believe, and it comes to a light reddish orange near the mouth.

-She has a single petiole node.

 -Overall rather bald

-Also, when her entire body shines in light, she turns rather orange.
6. Distinguishing characteristics:

 -Rather stalky of an ant.
7. Distinguishing behavior:

-When I found her, she was running in a straight line on her own, determined to move very quickly forward.

-Hasn't laid a single egg since I caught her, though I know she's a queen.
8. Nest description:

-Found running on a concrete slab of my driveway

9. Nuptial flight time and date:

-Caught on July 5, 2020—rather late in the day around 7:30pm.

Edit: Here's the photos

Lasius aphidicola, a social parasite. She will need workers of another lasius species in order to start her colony.

Good ol’ parasitic Lasius. Gotta love ‘em.

Actually, I've found the care sheet on her, this sounds like a little challenging fun!
