There is a war going on between Linepithema and Pogonomyrmex. The Pogonomyrmex were always outnumbered and losing. Savage, barbaric, and merciless...

There's a good reason they aren't sold. If you don't have any in your area, keep it that way.

You really gonna sell argentines? They don't do the best in captivity.

Yeah. I was thinking of selling them. Are there any well known ant species that don't do well in captivity or is this just an Argentine ant thing?

Plenty of ants don’t do well in captivity, because of environment matters, stress, natural requirements, etc. Like things like Atta spp. need extremely high humidity in order to live in and for their fungus to grow.

So does Jen C have something against Argentine or is she dead serious about Argentine not doing well in captivity than any other species?

Argentines and other ants always have their weaknesses, but I’m not sure that they don’t do well in captivity as they are well known pests for living in doors.

But I still want to point out only experienced ant keepers, with many colonies and the proper housing should keep them. I don’t think you guys have the stuff for keeping Argentines, they grow fast, quickly, and are escape artists. Only people who have many years of experience should keep them. Argentines grow at the pace of fire ants = REALLY REALLY REALLY FAST. So please, please do not keep them until you know how to treat them properly. If you really want to keep them, if you ever can’t handle them, kill them, please don’t release them.

Both, invasive argentines don't seem to do especially well in typical captive conditions (and no one likes humile). And Jen C is a he.

You do make a good point as Argentines are meant for the outdoors not glass test tubes and Ytong formicaria and such.
