Hello everyone,
I hope i'm on the correct section of the forum.
I have a small issue with my half a year old Lasius colony (around 30 workers). I have tried to move them in an improvised Ytong home made nest using some light. They did move for a while but after a few weeks the whole colony moved back in the test tube attached to the colony. Probably cause the higher humidity in the test tube. In both cases, staying for a few weeks in the ytong nest and now back in the test tube, the colony is very dormant, all clustered around the queen and eggs, not even 1 worker ant moving. I'm tapping a little bit on the surface of the tube to check if they are still moving. Do you know what could cause this issue? What's wrong with them and what can i do to get them out of this state?
The setup is the following: Test tube connected to ytong. Ytong connected to arena.
The only place where i can place water / food now is the arena but i did not see any of the workers wonder outside yet which concerns me. It's full summer here so the temperature in the room is between 24 and 28 Celsius (goes higher than this but trying to regulate it with an AC in the other room.
Please help!
Thank you,
Vlad
