I hope you are doing well.

Usually, when I have to move my colonies, either to a new test tube or nest, I connect the new test tube covering it with a black blanket, exposing the old one to the natural light.

This has been the best way to force colonies to move. I have tried heat, lamps light and other but they didn't work well.

However, with Myrmecocystus, I have experienced sudden death after moving probably related to stress (?)

Do you have a better less-stressful way to migrate a Myrmecocystus (Mimicus) colony to a new test tube? I need to move it since the current test tube is out of water. I could connect a new test tube as a water chamber but I don't have enough space for that setup.

As always, your advice will be appreciated.

Have a great day!

Myrmecocystus should preferably be moved into a vertical formicarium once they get nanitics, in order for the repletes to hang. Moving colonies with repletes can be tricky, as you will need to manually move the repletes with a paintbrush due to them being unable to move themselves.
