It is getting cold here in Sydney and heavy storm over past few days. However, last night I have managed to find a bunch of queens. I discovered that they tend to be easier to spot near or on the wall.

Sorry I didn't take the photos. They are relatively big black ants live around the bush. I have too many of them and do not have any space to host them, so I released all of them outside.

As I also from Sydney, just wondering if we have Odontoponera Traversa there?

I love to see the photos of those queen, will be interested on them once I get back home.

I am not an expert on ant identification, but according to antwiki, they don't exist in Sydney region. http://www.antwiki.o...nera_transversa

WOW! indeed very similar looking, I believed that is a queen?
Do they have slippery legs? That's another reason why I love OT.

Sorry, I can't recall if they got slippery legs or not. She is a queen. Another species I can think of, also got slippery leg and similar body shape is the green-head ants.
