Hi all,
I’ve had my L.Flavus and L.Niger queens for pretty much the same amount of time. As you’ve seen my L.Niger queens are doing pretty well. However all 3 of my L.Flavus laid eggs pretty quick but don’t seem to be growing? Anyone know of any reason for this? I don’t treat them any differently than my other queens and don’t check them any more or less either?
Thanks again peeps!

They could be unmated, or something is wrong with the brood. I really have no idea here as I never have kept any Lasius sp.
Are the eggs scattered around or in a neat pile in the tube?

TechAnt, they were all caught without wings and the broods are all in nice little piles?? It’s so strange...

Lasius brood takes a very very long time to develop. My five queen L. brevicornis (like American flavus) colony has had about a dozen pupae for months but only got its first worker today.

There is a good answer. Someone who has experience in the species.
