Hey,

So about 3-4 weeks ago, I caught two Camponotus cf. caryae queens which are now starting to have quite large larvae, for their size. I know that quite a few people have had trouble keeping the myrmentoma subgenus.

Does anyone have any tips or reasons that they may die off?

I have not really found an ample amount of care information on these gals when looking through journals, as almost all end up with their deaths.

I just want to make sure I am prepared with this species.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I don't have too much experience with myrmentoma, I've only had a few small colonies in the past before selling them. I do have a C. caryae queen currently that I'm planning on keeping though. In my past experiences, they are relatively easy to care for, although one key thing is they are more prone to escapes than the bigger Camponotus, due to their small size. Other than that, they can be cared for like any other Camponotus species, as far as I'm aware.
