I have Darkling Beetles everywhere in my backyard and I was wondering if I could collect some and breed them to use their larvae as feeders

Pretty sure a darkling beetle is just an adult mealworm so yes, you could probably use the larva as feeders.

Darkling beetles are an entire family of beetles, with over 20,000 described species. So, your beetles are probably related to mealworms, but not mealworms. I’d give it a try, however.

"God made..... all the creatures that move along the ground according to their kinds (including ants). And God saw that it was good. Genesis 1:25 NIV version

Keeping:

Tetramorium immigrans

Formica cf. pallidefulva, cf. incerta, cf. argentea

Formica cf. aserva, cf. subintegra

Pogonomyrmex occidentalis

Pheidole bicarinata

Myrmica sp.

Lasius neoniger, brevicornis

I feed my colonies every stage of mealworms. The smaller colonies I give a few nearly microscopic mealworms with a few pieces of adult beetles. My large colonies I will give whole beetles too after. I noticed some of my colonies prefer the adult beetles over the worms and pupa and sometimes more then Dubia roaches. My Camponotus Queens seem to lay more eggs after I feed them adult darkling beetles too.
