Hello everyone!

I am from Portland, Oregon and joined here with my 8 year old daughter.  We are getting super sucked into ant keeping and learning all we can about these fascinating insects. Our daily walks have now changed into daily "hunts" for queen ants.  We are excited about this forum and to continue learning about these amazing creatures.

Cheers,

Anne & daughter Lilly

Nice, I'm glad more people are getting into ant keeping. I'm relatively new myself. This forum is a great place to ask for ant IDs, tips for ant care, and many more things. The best days to look for ants are warm days 1-2 days after rain.

Happy ant catching! :D

I started with my ant interest when I was a little kid, too. I had simple jar-in-jar type set-ups and when I was older, I found a few queens just wandering around on the sidewalk. I even had one or two in an Uncle Milton ant farm. Unfortunately I killed them off sooner or later - having this forum (or the internet) might've helped a lot.

Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise! It has no commander, no overseer or ruler, yet it stores its provisions in summer and gathers its food at harvest. -Proverbs 6: 6-8
