I figured I'd start the journal now because the workers have almost eclosed from their cocoons. This is an 8 queen colony with tons of brood. They will have 20 workers when the workers are done eclosing. Probably around 30 eggs and 20-30 larva.

Edit: They were caught during nuptial flight. I have 3 test tubes in total. The other 2 have only 1 queen with eggs.

How big are brachymyrmex workers? Tiny? Sometimes I get confused if I'm looking at lasius or brachymyrmex. I have a great ant guide of ants of New England but that's one thing they left out. General sizes of queens and workers. Big miss in my opinion.

About 1-2 milimeters. The queens are about 5mm

Well this colony now has 5 workers and queens because I forgot to feed them for a looong time.
