Formicarium for just a queen?

What are the dimensions? I am still worried it is to big for a queen.

I think it will be fine for an adaptable species like Lasius niger, especially if there’s some substrate in there for her to customize it. The overall space is no greater than a test tube, judging from the photos.

Dakota, it only measures 4 x 5cm (Usable space) which I'm pretty sure is a fair bit smaller than the Ants Australia one too? What do you think?

Imo there's no real need to move a single lasius queen out of her tube unless its getting some dangerous levels of mold. Ants don't mind a little dirtiness.

Right it’s finished! Haven’t got a pic at the moment as I’ve got a brick on it while the sealant sets. Holes for hydration were a bit mis-aligned and sealant slightly messy but not a bad attempt I guess. I’ll pop a pic on later...

Right it’s all finished. As I said watering holes not really in line and sealant a bit uneven but other than that not a bad days work...

I have one of these Formicariums, they can fit a big species, like Campontous in it, they can even hold big colonies of small ants. I have my Pheidole in one, and they love it. The dimensions of the product are on the website, and other good single queen Formicariums are Mini Hearths, Inception Chambers, and others. Overall, the Ants Australia Founding Formicarium (and starter kit) are a wonderful purchase, though shipping may be slow due to COVID-19.

No.i hydrate the nest with a syringe needle.there is a small hole in the lid.
