well I tried to upload pics. using photo bucket it went away. weird. anyways. this is my first journal.
-Veromesor pergandei caught by Nurbs in February 2017. I bought it in October good health and no parasites in sight.
-They are kept at a small container with plaster flat ground. with a test tube in the middle. approximately 1 to half and inch of space around the tube to forage.
-They are being kept at 83 at the coldest time of the day and 89 to 90 at the hottest time of the day. using a heat mat. warming the edge of the container probably reaching 2 or 1 degree less at the test tube. unsure not checked yet. ants seem happy.
-Queen seems to be laying eggs. Egg pile has the mass of 7 workers stuck toguether.
-Pupa number in the 30s hard to count to many ants always on top.
-Larva at 40s to 50s. hard to tell. pics coming soon.
-There are approximately 110 ants with 14 more about to wake.
-Proteins 4 tiny crickets in a month and 4 times what 2 of my fingers can hold of seeds. which seems to be too.much they have them all the place outside and some inside the tube.

the only event that has happened that is worth writing is. my first safe mistake to say the least
last cricket I feed them was very small. so I did something I won't do again. I threw the poor little guy inside. I thought 2 or 3. majors could kill it. well that was true exempt. this [censored] was fast and jumped inside the tube with out the ants being in alert. out of nowhere the ants went crazy, and the cricket jumped for his life right into the largest thing in the tube the queen. she shrugged a little from the smaller cricket hitting her. Anyways she kept on her business.
For the poor cricket let's say bumping the queen was the last thing it ever did.
he forgot to bow. and was dragged to the middle in 30 minutes all limbs and head where gone.
word of advice always kill the food. I was lucky the queen was bot hurt is being 2 days and she seems chill and doing her thing.

Why is the first post on this thread nothing more than what looks like a phone number?

serafine suggested imgur. it's awesome.
I change the ants to the duo test tube container. unfortunatelymy test tube had a leak and drowned 3 ants. took it out. and grabbed an ant and. put it in my next test tube which looked good.
something weird happened. I put the ant back after I kept it 4 hour in new test tube. so went to sleep. next morning i found legs and ant parts. ill post pics soon. I think they might have confused test tube ant with an enemy

seemed a bit flooded, but it was fine. all brood have been moved there by placing heating mat close to new tube. including the queen. it's so cold in my house they even moved some pupa and almost developed ants next to the heating mat

I'm also glad to finely spot again the largest major by far of the colony. he is about to wake. you can see it at the end of the pile half her body is covered with pupa. her head is huge compared to all ants in the pic.

Great job! Since most of the workers, brood, and queen have moved to the new test tube, you can now replace the old one. Just gently tap the test tube and drop the remaining workers into the outworld and replace it with a fresh one.

We can move these messor colonies with cold and heat. an ice pack cover with a towel next to unwanted tube and heat in the new tube. they will move in minutes.
unfortunately I was not able to move them. I came back a day later when they were more relax. the larva and queen where in the old tube. She also laid a pile of eggs in the old tube.the new tube contained pupa and previous pile of eggs. will have to wait. or try to force them out in the weekend. will report the move soon.
