Hi all,

Would the attached be ok to use to seal the Perspex lid to my AAC/YTONG formicarium?

You want something that is 100% silicone. This may have other additives in it, so read the description carefully. A smaller tube might be better, too, because most of the big tube will dry up before you use it again. I actually just threw out an ancient UNopened tube like this that had turned solid somehow.

Aquarium silicone and kitchen silicone are definitely safe. Regular silicone most likely not so much.

Silicone doesn't stick well to plastic at all, though it sticks well enough to serve your purpose. Anything that says 100% silicone is fine, in my personal opinion all silicones, including the ones with antifungal agents, are also fine and I personally have used them now for years without issue. RTV silicone is a bit different than "normal" silicone in the way that it cures and it's composition. However at least some varieties are used in aquariums

Thanks for the reply guys. Ended up getting this (picture attached). It’s 100% silicone and according to a question answered on Amazon, should be enough to stick the perspex to the AAC.

Aquarium sealant is probably the best route to take, as it's designed for use near living creatures and is thus most likely to be non-toxic.
