Have you guys heard of the Earthship by Mike Reynolds?   I think of it as a vivarium that people can live in.  lol.  Have you ever stayed the night in one of these habitable works of art?

This one is not an earthship, but it has a lot of really cool features too that can be integrated into an earthship.

Yes, I've looked into earthships on and off for years. The concept is pretty cool. I don't know how really livable they are, out in the middle of a desert somewhere, but I must say I love the idea of recycling gray water right inside the house.

I'm hoping to rent one through AirBNB soon, and having not done it yet I don't know for sure, but my guess is they are extremely livable.  More so than traditional buildings, as they integrate nature into the outdoors instead of isolating your living space from nature;

I've been kicking around the idea of building one near Carson City, NV.

They are beautiful homes that produce their own energy, water, and food, and they process and reuse all of their own waste.  It seems crazy to me that all new single family homes aren't earthships.....

What I mean by livable is more like ... I don't know if people in general will put up with the general isolation of some of the places where earthships are popular, as well as the need to collect the occasional rainwater, store it, and conserve it ... plus dealing with the difficulties of growing your own food and so on ... along with (probably) trying to maintain a job. I mean there was a time when I wanted it, but lately as I get older I'm not sure I could handle the demands.

That said, the more we normalize graywater usage, normalize water recycling, normalize green spaces and normalize giving people the time and space to work with the natural world, instead of against it... the better ... in my view.
