Yesterday i finally caught a colony of polyergus mexicanus, my dream native species. The colony consists of around 30 polyergus workers, 150 formica subsericea slaves and a physogastric queen. The colony is kept in a 3-sided tar heel ants casita and overnight the queen has laid a few clutches of eggs. I'm extremely excited to watch them raid, but ill have to wait about a month for the wild formica pupae to emerge.

Update june 16th, 2020

The formica colonies in my area have started to get pupae, so i dumped a few subsericea and obscuripes pupae into the outworld. There was no scout out today for some reason but the slaves were happy to collect all the pupae. The eggs the queen laid have also developed into larvae, which is a good sign.

That’s kind of depressing.

I think it can be said that the more difficult a species is, the more likely the queen is to just randomly die for some reason.

I'm gonna restart this journal as i found a queen today after nuptial flight. I put her in a tube with 15 formica subsericea pupae and a callow. She has so far accepted the callow and is currently investigating the pupae.

For everyone reading this journal, manitobant is a self described homophobe who uses slurs against people who are gay and also using insulting words against those with special needs.

https://www.formicul...a-set/?p=156897

This is the link to the word he used

https://www.urbandic...php?term=natard

He tried backtracking by saying he "made it up", but he outed himself as a homophobic hateful person. Funny "coincidence" that the word he used is a word used in a bigotry manner. I never used any hateful bigot words in that thread, I did kinda insult people slightly but never in a way that was homophobic or hateful or using insulting words against those with special needs just because I disagreed with them. The first thing he does is use a homophobic AND special needs slur against me because he hates me. I hope he reports himself.

that's nice. Instead of posting accusations on his journal, could you try to solve your differences through direct communication? Or if you can't get over them, perhaps it would be best to put them aside, or as a last resort, simply ignore/tolerate each other?

looking forward to your results, Polyergus would be fun to see captive if its possible to get a mature colony running.

Only trump supporters defend those who insult those who are gay or with special needs. he needs to answer why he hates gays and special needs so much to use such insulting words against them.

Also people need to know who they are supporting, and these days someone being so openly homophobic and derogatory against special needs is a thing that people need to know about. Its why there is the protests going on, because of racism and hatred against those who bigots deem "different" than them.

Sexism, racism, bigotry, homophobia is a thing that people need to know about so they don't support that person. its 2020 and hate is out.

In, fact, quite the opposite. Very opposed to his policies. If manitoba does indeed have bias against those groups, I'm also against that, but doesnt mean I have to go around attempting to get other people to hate him. Everyone is entitled to basic respect. But, again, I'm not seeing much evidence that he hates these groups. The definition link you posted doesnt seem especially reliable, and misuse of words is common enough these days.
