Hey J! thanks for meeting with me! I'll be sure to post a photo later, as I wanted to give the girls a quiet rest after the long drive home.

JChitty is fast, responsive, and knowledgeable. Picked up a beautiful C. Hyatti and C. Quercicola.
Cola girl is protecting her single egg, while Hyatti has a few piled up and waiting for workers!

After I give them a drop of honey and snap a photo, I'm gonna give the girls rest for a couple weeks before I switch out their test tubes!
Will provide updates for J and any future customers that may come their way!

Thanks again, and it was great meeting you!

EDIT:

Just put them away for the next few weeks. they loved the honey droplet. Ate their fill, and now for the long delicate phase of starting a colony. Peace, quiet, dark place.

Tetramorium usually do not require hibernation, but it is recommended.

3 week update on the Cola and Hyatti:

Cola had to be moved to a larger (20mm) test tube about a week after adoption, as she was able to tear through the water reservoir and we had a small flooding issue. She did end up eating her only egg at some point during that first week - as I was unable to find it during the test-tube switch. Noting its size, no way I could have missed it. Two weeks pass with no further tearing at the cotton in the bigger test tube. She now has 6 eggs she has piled up and protecting thoroughly. Still no larva.

Hyatti has had little issue at all. I did switch her into a different test tube that fits my future formicarium specs, the same time we moved Cola out. I was able to collect all 5 of the Hyatti eggs, as they are considerably smaller than that of the Cola brood. Two weeks longer, and the Hyatti now is attending to 3 larva and aproximately 8 more tiny little eggs.
