One Species: Linepithema humile
"God made..... all the creatures that move along the ground according to their kinds (including ants). And God saw that it was good. Genesis 1:25 NIV version
Keeping:
Formica cf. pallidefulva, cf. incerta, cf. argentea
Formica cf. aserva, cf. subintegra
Myrmica sp.
Lasius neoniger, brevicornis
I highly doubt that. I'm sure there is some other species, if rather cryptic. It took me years to find the Hypoponera here.
Hi there! I went on a 6 month or so hiatus, in part due, and in part cause of the death of my colonies.
However, I went back to the Sierras, and restarted my collection, which is now as follows:
Aphaenogaster uinta, Camponotus vicinus, Camponotus modoc, Formica cf. aserva, Formica cf. micropthalma, Formica cf. manni, Formica subpolita, Formica cf. subaenescens, Lasius americanus, Manica invidia, Pogonomyrmex salinus, Pogonomyrmex sp. 1, Solenopsis validiuscula, & Solenopsis sp. 3 (new Sierra variant).
Probably means species he’s found.I highly doubt that. I'm sure there is some other species, if rather cryptic. It took me years to find the Hypoponera here.

Myrmica sp.
Lasius neoniger, brevicornis
Brachymyrmex and Argentine ants
Veromessor pergandei
Veromessor andrei
Crematogaster sp.
Pogonomyrmex cf cali and rugosus
Various Pheidole
C. yogi
My Formica might be F. integra. I think I had an ID request out for them, but wasn't able to get a species on them.
...and the list goes on! Just found another Camponotus species AND a Crematogaster worker, as well as some Solenopsis-looking things (or it could be the cf Temnothorax i've been seeing. I'll try to get an ID request out for them).

Brief update: I was able to identify my "little brown Lasius" as Lasius neoniger, which also means I have no Tapinoma sessile.
Also found a C. americanus major the other day, so that was cool.
I'm gonna break the rules a little and list all the ants Ants4Fun, Ants_Dakota, or myself have found within a few miles of my house:
Aphaenogaster picea
Aphaenogaster rudis
Aphaenogaster tennesseenis
Brachymyrmex depilis
Camponotus nearcticus
Camponotus novaeboracensis
Camponotus pennsylvanicus
Camponotus vicinus
Dolichoderus sp.
don't really care to list all the unidentified Formica species we've found.........
Lasius americanus
Lasius aphidicola
Lasius brevicornis
Lasius claviger
Lasius neoniger
Lasius nearcticus
Leptothorax sp.
Myrmica sp.
Pheidole bicarinata
Polyergus sp.
Ponera pennsylvanica
Prenolepis imparis
Solenopsis molesta
Stigmatomma pallipes
Tapinoma sessile
Tetramorium immigrans
possibly Tetramorium tsushimae

I already know this species is in my yard, but I found a C. pennsylvanicus male under a rock yesterday. If I missed that flight, I will be particularly unhappy.

Found another Formica sp. This one looks darker than the other; could be neogagates.

Turns out what I identified as Aphaenogaster was actually Myrmica. I'm happy either way!
I've seen:
Lasius sp.
Formics sp.
Tetramorium Immigrans
Propobly Camponotus Pennsylvanicus
Maybe other Camponotus sp.
Termites
Btw I know termites are not ants but I thought I might as well put them in.
I also found a Lasius Aphidicola queen.
ants in my backyard.
Tetramorium immigrans
Lasius neoniger
Lasius claviger
Lasius aphidicola
Lasius alienus
Apheanogaster picea
Aphenogaster fulva
Crematogaster cerasi
Crematogaster ashmeadi
Camponotus pennsylvanicus
Camponotus neacticus
Camponotus castaneus
Camponotus subbaratus
Camponotus chromaiodes
Prenolepis imparis
Colopobsis sp.(queen only)
Brachymyrmex sp.
Pheidole tysoni
Ponera pennsylvanica
Stigmatomma pallipes
Solenopsis molesta
Tapinoma sessile
Formica subsericea
4 unknown formica
Strumigenys sp. (super rare)
edit: oh yeah I forgot about Temnothorax curvispinosus and Monomorium minimum.

Ants I have: Tapinoma sessile(2 queen colony). RED MORPH Camponotus neacticus(now has pupae!), Tetramorium immigrans (x3), Aphaenogaster sp, Temnothorax sp, Brachymyrmex sp. possibly infertile , Ponera pennsylvanica, and Pheidole morrisi!
Other insects: Polistes sp. Queen
Ants I need: Pheidole sp., Trachymyrmex sp., Crematogaster cerasi , Dorymyrmex sp. Most wanted: Pheidole morrisii
Fairly certain my #12 is Dorymyrmex grandulus.
Around here, Aphaenogaster are rarer and more sought after than Myrmica, but I guess that varies from place to place.Turns out what I identified as Aphaenogaster was actually Myrmica. I'm happy either way!

Solenopsis molesta
Camponotus chromaiodes
Camponotus nearcticus
Camponotus pennsylvanicus

There may be some cryptic things, too, but I don’t know much about those sort of ants.
