1. Location (on a map) of collection: Las Vegas off of Blue Diamond and Ft. Apache.
2. Date of collection: 4/20
3. Habitat of collection: underground hole to colony located in scrub brush covered desert area.
4. Length (from head to gaster): 8-9mm
5. Color, hue, pattern and texture: in the natural habitat with natural sunlight they look like black head and brownish gaster. In the light box for the up close photos they appear more reddish to brown.
6. Distinguishing characteristics: furry, but sparce. firm body.
7. Distinguishing behavior: very active
8. Nest description: hole on surface covered by two very small rocks.

9. Nuptial flight time and date: Looking to find that out if possible.

I was told by a friend that this may be pogonomyrmex rugosus. Any tips?

Thanks.
