How serious is the USDA on destroying organisms approved for transport after the expiration date? Have any of you had to deal with this?

Very serious. If you renew the permit you can keep it going for a long while.

How long do you think? Have you done this before, and if so how long were you able to keep the imported species?

I have not my self, but know people that have. I believe the standard permit lasts 4 years.

Do you mean I would have to renew the permit once every four years, or it cannot be renewed again after four years?

Ok, that’s good. I wouldn’t like to renew it every month or so just to keep them.

Just make sure you don't apply for an invasive species. They will NOT grant a permit for invasives.

Ironically, you were the one who I was actually thinking of buying from, so I’ll get back to you if it’s approved. And I don’t believe you sell any invasives, either.

You are correct, I rarely sell invasives. I don't trust the public with them...

You’d also have to find a seller.

I do believe there is a fee to apply, though.
