Nice formatting, nice pics. Going to go with Pheidole megacephala dentata.
edit: Thanks, NickAnter!
Go to the full postI have at least 8 species in my front and backyard. Truckloads of argentines, two species of Hypoponera, Nylanderia vividula, Pheidole navigans, two species of Cardiocondyla, and Brachymyrmex patagonicus.
Hi there! I went on a 6 month or so hiatus, in part due, and in part cause of the death of my colonies.
However, I went back to the Sierras, and restarted my collection, which is now as follows:
Aphaenogaster uinta, Camponotus vicinus, Camponotus modoc, Formica cf. aserva, Formica cf. micropthalma, Formica cf. manni, Formica subpolita, Formica cf. subaenescens, Lasius americanus, Manica invidia, Pogonomyrmex salinus, Pogonomyrmex sp. 1, Solenopsis validiuscula, & Solenopsis sp. 3 (new Sierra variant).
"God made..... all the creatures that move along the ground according to their kinds (including ants). And God saw that it was good. Genesis 1:25 NIV version
Keeping:
Formica cf. pallidefulva, cf. incerta, cf. argentea
Formica cf. aserva, cf. subintegra
Myrmica sp.
Lasius neoniger, brevicornis
my yard is full of so much stuff, I don't think I would live to see it all ID'd lol
There is a important time for everything, important place for everyone, an important person for everybody, and an important ant for each and every ant keeper and myrmecologist alike
I have at least 7, including Lasius neoniger, Lasius americanus, Formica montana, an unidentified Formica sp., Dorymyrmex insanus, Solenopsis molesta, and Brachymyrmex depilis. There’s probably more, though.
I have found 68 confirmed species in my yard so far. A lot of the ones I find are Strumigenys, Hypoponera and other small ants and are hard to ID, so the number is actually quite low compared to what I have actually seen out there. I've probably seen close to 75-77 species in my yard in total.
