Thanks in advance! Since I was completely wrong on my last post I'm not going to say I think it's some kind of Camponotus.

1. Location (on a map) of collection: San Jose, CA
2. Date of collection: 4/26/2020
3. Habitat of collection: residential backyard. My 5yo daughter saw her walk into the house from the backyard just as she was going out herself.
4. Length (from head to gaster): ~11mm
5. Color, hue, pattern and texture: Dark brown
6. Distinguishing characteristics: I think I count 4 teeth. I think there's some hair/short hairs around the face.
7. Distinguishing behavior:
8. Nest description:

9. Nuptial flight time and date: ~4/26/2020

I saw just the one. Wings were already off. It was just walking into the house on the hardwood floor as our daughter was putting on her sandals to go outside. She says "It's a queen ant! It's a queen ant!" I'm amused but not quite sure she knows a queen ant from a worker so I don't move off the couch. Our 2nd kid goes over to check it out and says immediately, "That's not a queen ant...<short pause> She found a queen ant!". Kids are going to be well-trained for life. Shelter in place isn't so bad if the queen ants fly to your house.

Thanks for this awesome post.... I caught the same type of queen on the exact same day in Sacramento and was able to identity her because of this thread... My first queen and hopefully my first colony. Thanks some much and good luck.

That... is not clarithorax, not even myrmentoma. Maybe vicinus? don't rely on other peoples IDed animals to ID your own stuff.

Yes. I agree with the ID for the original ant.

It would be best to make a separate ID thread with all of the proper information. More pictures might help too.
