Wait, are y'all talking about the April fools thing, or did he actually let ants go?

No April fools. He let his Odontomachus, Carebara, and Oecothylla go.

Oh, I kinda liked his Oecothylla colony....

Damn, those were his only colonies that I actually liked.

Congratulations, Air Conditioner. You have successfully violated the ethical standards of ant keeping by releasing three mature captive colonies into the wild, potentially introducing disease, parasitic infections, etc. into the local environment.

Funny how this was posted on April first...

No. That's when he made the announcement that he was releasing the colonies.

Hahaha, there is so many triggered people from antscanada video. Its hilarious. I don't agree with releasing invasive ants and think that's really terrible no matter even if they are already dominant in the area. But some elitist small group make such a big deal of even re-releasing (or even the simple act of re-locating ants from destruction by construction) native ants that I hope they all get triggered so much. +1 to AC for triggering the worst group in the ant community, but luckily they are a very small niche group who are just loud. Not gonna argue about it or post in this thread again except to laugh as I read it since really got nothing better to do with the quarantine going on, but this is great and hilarious. They deserve to be triggered so much. If they get so angry about even re-locating (native) ants, they deserve it.

About the inexperienced forums, I understand now why everyone here hates on AC. He has opened up the antkeeping community, which is a bad thing in my opinion, since he appeals to "normies" who go in to the hobby, not serious about it but still expect to be on the same success level as AC. Then, when they fail, instead of learning from their mistakes and doing more research, they get frustrated and quit, giving the hobby a bad name.

It isn't bad that new people are getting into the hobby, it is bad when AC, an expert, makes newbie mistakes for publicity, which is the main focus of his channel. Remember back when he was actually informative, made tutorials and overviews of various genera? In addition, the problem begins when people are interested in the "good" part or the "superficial" part of antkeeping, but aren't interested in the "care' part or the "technical" part of the hobby.

Since when was Mikey an expert? I consider myself more of an 'expert' than Mikey.

Me too. He publicly refused to accept ID requests in an older video because he and his team apparently can’t tell their ants apart.

Not being able to ID could just be due to poor camera quality, but AC actually has made many tutorials and has been keeping ants since his childhood. All of his recent incompetencies are to get publicity, and to "dumb" his content down to appeal to normies.

Yep, I also never understand their arguments. As if some strange parasites or illness develops exclusively in captivity and it is then unleashed upon the wild lol.

I was curious and decided to look on the forums, I like how no one does research, and goes to the most expensive option (buying overpriced AC gear)

His outro should be this: "so head on over to the AntsCanada shop to get high quality pieces of overpriced plastic that don't even work for the vast majority of the ants you're gonna find! There's a reason why I use terrariums for my ants! Ant love forever!"

Some of the products work good, like the test tubes, which isn't something you can really screw up on, and the ant tower actually looks to be a decent product. I agree that terrariums aren't that good, since you can't see what's going on, and I can garantee that SOME AC fan will try to recreate the paludariums and kill the colony.
