My camponotus chromaiodes colony has been able to scale the baby powder barrier I have for them till the point where it’s getting kind of worrysome as to how easily they can escape. What other slippery substances can I use? I don’t have access to any fluon or anything like that so that’s out if the question.

Proverbs 6:6-8 New International Version (NIV)

Go to the ant, you sluggard;
    consider its ways and be wise!
It has no commander,
    no overseer or ruler,
yet it stores its provisions in summer
    and gathers its food at harvest.

Well, you can get fluon from Tarheelants: https://tarheelants....q=fluon&submit=

Besides that, I have no idea :D

Sorry to say, but I don't think there is any viable alternative to fluon if you seriously want to keep ants. I just saw a Aus Ants bottle for $11.99 on Amazon. That's cheaper than bottled water or hand sanitizer at the moment.

What about the 35.99 Byformica fluon? Also, does anyone have experience with that 11.99 dollar one? I have a founding queen of myremica rubra, and I need a brarrier also.

I use the byFormica. It’s pricey, but it’s enough for several years of use.

Rubbing alcohol and talcum powder is also a viable barrier.I've actually seen it work in cases fluon doesnt.
