This would be one difficult "whack a mole" game...

 

I am not used to seeing them that close together, how large was this colony?

I am not used to seeing them that close together, how large was this colony?

 

Prairie dogs form colonies, gophers do not.

Very true Terry.  I was thinking of prairie dogs.

Sometimes I forget about common names.  Up here the prairie dogs are also commonly called gophers, since the pocket gophers are pretty rare this far north.
