It's a  shame that you aren't going to be on as much in the following months, it was always a joy to talk to you :(

I will try to pop in once in a while. I also enjoyed talking to you, as well. But don't worry, I am spending my time on ants and other ant related things. :) I will still be on every Thursday for my journal, though.

Awesome with the ants, and nice formicarium that you made!

Update #4 3/19/2020

Quick note, I will be on formiculture rarely in the next months, as i am working on other things related to ants. Just wanted to note that.

Oh ok:(

I am not positive. I am waiting for my formica to have 20 workers, so i can move them in. He also sent me a syringe, 2 byformica feeders, 2 test tubes, and that camponotus colony. He is so generous.

No new updates, except that the camponotus colony has only 1 egg now and the Formica's eggs all became larvae. The formica has one less worker, too.

My Camponotus had a kinda major die off of nanitics ( I think they starved themselves during diapause but IDK), so I will clean the mini-hearth and move 'em in...

I lost a Camponotus colony last year because all the nanitics died just before the second generation enclosed from their pupae. The queen had gotten too depend on the workers, and didn’t care for the brood, and died.

NEW UPDATE! AND NEW COLONIES!

To the best of my knowledge, i believe i have caught a myrmica fracticornis colony. Right now, it has 11 queens and an assortment of larvae. I will get pics soon.

I have also caught a formica colony with 5 queens. Not sure the species, but i will get pics soon.

I also have an Aphaenogaster Tennessensis colony. All pics coming soon!

This is M. latifrons:

And this is M. lobicornis:

myrmica lobicornis - Google Search

As you can see, they look no different than M. fracticornis, so.........

There's probably more identical species. I just came up with two examples off the top of my head.
