Not really. Formica and Tetramorium start flying in July. Everything else flies in the fall.

Found a Camponotus americanus colony with male alates in a local state park. Didn’t know we had them around here. Hoping to find some founding queens in a couple weeks after their flights.

It’s supposed to get in the 90s on Monday and Tuesday. It usually doesn’t get that hot until the hottest days of July. I’m betting that is when Camponotus will fly.

Just found a small Myrmica colony and another Aphaenogaster rudis colony. Saw a few Brachymyrmex depilis workers, and tons of Lasius, of course.

Camponotus are flying. Just caught a queen. Ironically caught a smaller (150ish) colony on the same day under some rocks.

Seems like you actually got the spelling perfect.
