Where in the world are you getting Camponotus herculeanus from? You know they're not from Georgia, right?

Probably meant chromaiodes.

I hope, but I doubt it.

Any update on your Harpegnathos?

Wrong journal? Was this meant to be on Leo's Journal?

Oh yeah I meant his Anochetus. How're those doing?

You won't be able to. Camponotus have to fly to mate, usually above 2 meters above the ground.

Could a 5 gallon tank work? I have a spare one and it could possibly be big enough for queens to fly in it?

No. A greenhouse might work, though........

I could see a 200 gallon working for Camponotus. It's gonna be expensive, and it's gonna need to be taller than it is wide, but it could work, especially with Myrmentoma Camponotus.

I could still see queens crashing into walls, though......... They're clumsy flyers.

and clumsy in general, I found one trying to dig into a pot that looked like wood, trying to bite through it for 10 min before I finally caught it lol

I had such a good day today! I found and caught a 20 queen Brachymyrmex Patagonicus colony or some Brachymyrmex species colony and a Phedole Dentata colony! I found Pheidole Dentata for the first time and they are pretty big for the Pheidole in Georgia, and saw Lasius for the first time in America. I've never seen Lasius Neoniger only my queen. So it was pretty good. I found this Ponera on steroids and regular Ponera Pennsylvanica. Also some Aphenogaster I found but they had no queen but it was pretty cool. 18 of the Brachymyrmex queens have wings on them while 2 don't. Anyone know why? I also found only 2 workers in that nest and there was literally no more workers. If you guys know why please leave a reply.

Wow! Impressive! The only colony I’ve caught with more queens was a 70-80 (possibly more, I only got 60) Solenopsis molesta colony with thousands of workers.

Nice. I actually do find P. pennsylvanica, and unfortunately that’s all the Ponerinaes I’ll ever find.

Also the Pachycondyla harpax is very rare in Georgia I guess. I looked in Ant Maps and its only in the southeastern state of Georgia

Hi there! I went on a 6 month or so hiatus, in part due, and in part cause of the death of my colonies.

However, I went back to the Sierras, and restarted my collection, which is now as follows:

Aphaenogaster uinta, Camponotus vicinus, Camponotus modoc, Formica cf. aserva, Formica cf. micropthalma, Formica cf. manni, Formica subpolita, Formica cf. subaenescens, Lasius americanus, Manica invidia, Pogonomyrmex salinus, Pogonomyrmex sp. 1, Solenopsis validiuscula, & Solenopsis sp. 3 (new Sierra variant).

Probably not any worse than Pogonomyrmex, and even beginners keep them.
