They will probably be foraging for quite a few days, the Odontomachus under rocks and other such objects. When the pollen clears up, you'll be able to find some.

Hi there! I went on a 6 month or so hiatus, in part due, and in part cause of the death of my colonies.

However, I went back to the Sierras, and restarted my collection, which is now as follows:

Aphaenogaster uinta, Camponotus vicinus, Camponotus modoc, Formica cf. aserva, Formica cf. micropthalma, Formica cf. manni, Formica subpolita, Formica cf. subaenescens, Lasius americanus, Manica invidia, Pogonomyrmex salinus, Pogonomyrmex sp. 1, Solenopsis validiuscula, & Solenopsis sp. 3 (new Sierra variant).

Pseudomyrmex are harder, but you can lay honey bait traps on arboreal sites and you should see a few.

Sorry I haven't posted in a while, nothing crazy has happened to me these past 2 weeks. I really want trachymyrmex that's for sure. Yesterday I went blacklighting for the first time. A lot of insects came to it but no queens! It was 75 degrees Fahrenheit but I think they did not come because it had not rained the past week and maybe that is why I did not manage to catch a queen. I will be trying on Thursday because on Wednesday it will rain. I really hope I can catch some queens!

I have pollen allergies as well (luckily Illinois like to make spring a April to May affair) but I literally can't breath when I get in contact with pollen if there is an absolute crap-ton of it.

Wrong journal? Was this meant to be on Leo's Journal?

Hmm. I guess..

Yeah....... I wasn't aware there were Harpagnathos in the U.S.

I believe there are some exotic species in the US.

Edit: There aren't. I was thinking about his Anochetus maryi, a species introduced to parts of the Florida Keys. Idk how he got them in Georgia tho.

Probably meant chromaiodes.
