Real life things are more important then updating some journal about ants. But know Formiculture is here to help you with your adventure into this crazy hobby that is Ant keeping whenever you need it.

Thanks

Hey guys I'm so sorry about not posting on this journal these days. I've gave away a lot of my colonies and most of the colonies that used to be in this journal are gone except for the Pheidole and Apheanogaster. Let me organize what's been happening.

Right after my Camponotus americanus queen got 5 workers and so much brood she just died for no reason. All of her workers were totally fine but the queen just passed away.

I traded my Camponotus subbaratus colony for a Trachymyrmex sept colony which I got scammed of cause of so many reasons and it didn't come with any fungus. If you know anyone who has fungus workers and brood that they can give please tell me. More info is in the General Market section.

Trachymyrmex septentrionalis colonies reduce their fungus to tiny pellets in the fall and rebuild it in the summer. You likely just didn't see the fungus. You should hibernate them starting today and ending in February-March.

Hey wasup everyone I'm back and will probably not stay for long but since I'm here I better update some huge things! I sold most of my colonies through the GAN project and I only have 2 special colonies with me still. A 15 queen Prenolepis imparis colony along with a Formica colony where I caught there queen around in November.

Prenolepis imparis: They have very small larvae and eggs but nothing has progressed that much. I caught them mid march at a park by accident and there was a huge nuptial flight. Any tips on raising Prenolepis would be great especially when they are in the raising stage.

Formica subsericea: When I got the queen she had three eggs which are now workers and the colony has been moving pretty slow probably because it is still cold. The queen had one egg around a month ago and now the colony has 4 workers, but the queen has not had any eggs since then but I have continued to give them food and honey water.
