I was making a formicarium out of plaster when I realized the clay I was using had stained the plaster. I used paint diluted in water before but now I’m a bit concerned because the clay didn’t have any ingredients listed or any labels about it being non toxic. Would it be ok to still ise the formicarium, or should I discard it? 728EB208-27CE-41F4-84BB-49495457280B.jpeg
Here’s a pic of the package of the clay itself

Proverbs 6:6-8 New International Version (NIV)

Go to the ant, you sluggard;
    consider its ways and be wise!
It has no commander,
    no overseer or ruler,
yet it stores its provisions in summer
    and gathers its food at harvest.

I don't have an answer, but i'm commenting anyway to get this thread to the top because it seems it is going unnoticed. I don't know why but i'd feel terrible if your question went unanswered.

I seriously doubt it would cause any issues.
"The ants are a people not strong, yet they prepare their meat in the summer." Prov. 30:25
Keep ordinary ants in extraordinary ways.

I second what ANTdrew speaks of...

There is a important time for everything, important place for everyone, an important person for everybody, and an important ant for each and every ant keeper and myrmecologist alike

If it's the kind of clay children play with, I doubt it'd have any dangerous chemicals because ya know, it's for kids.

And it’s not like the ants will eat the clay, like little children might.......

And it’s not like the ants will eat the clay, like little children might.......

Maybe some would use it as a substrate to build coccoons? (ants not children)
