I wasn't going to use water — was going to use a similar set-up to how my partner incubates reptile eggs.
Just instead of a plastic tub full of vermiculite and eggs in the tank, I'll have glass containers with dirt and ants.
I'm no expert with naturalistic setups, but is there something to measure the dirt's humidity as well? You might be able to find a care sheet online with the recommended humidity for optimal brood growth.

These girls flew last night.
Trying a few experiments — outside they nest very close together, so I've put one in the dirt container with the unproductive queen and her adopted worker.
3 more in different size tubes — all with soil taken from a spot where there's a successful colony. I'm wondering if tube size is a variable, and if the big tubes are too open for them?
Video of one taking flight, shared on Insta.
That’s a great way to do it because you’ll eliminate condensation issues. You can get more consistent temps, too. It’s basically an incubator.I think since I have multiple small containers that need heating it might be easier to stack them all off the floor within an aquarium and heat that, with a thermostat measuring air temp.
