Maybe Formica pacificaF. rufa is a European ant and F. moki looks to be restricted to the southern part of your state based on the records from AntMaps.org.

1. Collected in Sweet Home, Or under a rock in a flower bed with wood chips.
2. 12-2-2019
3. Near forest and pasture land.
4. 11-12mm
5. Mostly black with orangish red on top of thorax, and lighter colored legs.

Looks like a Formica Rufa or a red wood ant

Formica is one of the easiest species to keep so I don’t see why not.

I have had a Formica Francoeuri colony for a long time and they have been very easy to keep.
