Maybe Formica pacifica. F. rufa is a European ant and F. moki looks to be restricted to the southern part of your state based on the records from AntMaps.org.

I have had a Formica Francoeuri colony for a long time and they have been very easy to keep.Thank you all so much for the input! Any opinions on a 9 year old keeping this species as his first colony, assuming all progresses well with her?
