In my front yard there was a massive nuptial flight taking place. My best advantage was that the ones that were currently mating landed on my parents car and i scooped them up once they were done.

Now about a month later i have 4 still alive 3 in a dirt container that i can't see through but they are most likely alive. The other one is in a small starter formicarium with about 7 workers and a huge brood pile. :D

It will be very hard to get a good one as they are about 1-2 millimeters but I will try.

This colony exploded in population with a huge egg batch and about 60 workers

I moved these guys into a small dirt setup and gave them some sunburst ant nectar

These guys are doing great but I have not seen the queen. BUT I have not seen a dead body yet.  :D

These guys are still doing amazing! They have a huge brood pile (for their size). And I saw a large new batch of eggs!

These guy’s queen died a few weeks ago because there is no brood and only a few workers left.

I don't want to get my hopes up but I saw a fresh batch of eggs in the emergency test tube I put in a tub. This is the tub I emptied their small dirt formicarium into. I saw eggs cucoons and larva!!

Is this a different colony? If not, the workers are probably laying male eggs. It’s common in ants when all queens die.
