I saw a video and talked to a guy about his super colony of pogonomyrmex californicus with about 5 queens

Most or all Pogonomyrmex californicus engage in what's called pleometrosis. A couple months after the the first nanitics eclose, queens begin to get kicked out of the colony until 1 is left. There are some reports of polygynous Pogonomyrmex californicus. I wouldn't count on them though
