Hi everyone.
I've got 4 Camponotus queens at the moment, and I'm not 100% sure of their ID's.
So, I'd like to ask you guys about them.
I'll list the queens, my guesses as to species, and other information above the photos.
Also, these photos were taken through the test tubes, so they aren't the best quality.
Queen 1 (Camponotus texanus?):
Found 3/23/2015
13 mm long
Under a small piece of limestone in suburban area with oak-juniper cover -- Austin, TX
Queen 2 (Camponotus sansabeanus?):
Found 4/3/2015
16 mm long
Running around on patio in suburban area with oak-juniper cover -- Austin, TX
Queen 3 (No idea):
Found 4/3/2015
17 mm long
Running around on deck of a pool in suburban area with oak-juniper cover -- Austin, TX
Queen 4 (Camponotus sayi?):
Found 4/4/2015
12 mm long
Inside of a hard gall on Quercus fusiformis in a suburban area with oak-juniper cover -- Austin, TX
Again, I'm sorry about the low image quality, especially on queens 3 and 4 -- I was using my phone to take photos through my microscope through a plastic test tube.
Thanks for any help you can offer!
