I introduced the 3D printed nest before I added the second DIY nest above and my ants seemed to prefer my builds as they moved in once I added the top nest pretty quickly and avoided the 3d printed Ant-Shack nest they had access to for a couple months. I had to disconnect the Ant-Shack nest due to some ants and one particular submajor getting their tarsal claws stuck in a gap inside the nest. It was terrible watching my ants struggle at the lower chambers of the 3d printed nest once I realized some were getting stuck there. The ants in general seemed clumsy while exploring the plastic nest and would tumble down and hit their poor heads as they flew face down first.

So I eventually disconnected it and had to take apart the nest in order to free the submajor that had been stuck for weeks. I'll either readjust this nest with some Milliput and epoxied sand for grip or retire the thing because it can trap ants  :(

I would choose Boog’s Builds over any other nest if I were an ant.

Just trying to move some incipient colonies from their dried up test tube setups. I like using the AntsCanada connectors and test tubes. Also pipe insulation make good test tube covers.

I tried using some Tar Heel Ants Genesis test tube inserts with Pheidole spp. but I don't think they work well with tiny ants. You can see the center-ish tube has brood piles in their dried up end of their test tube, hopefully they move promptly to the new setup I provided.

I've been okay and my colonies have been doing well this year despite a lack of journal updates. I've gotten busy outside the hobby but hope to be posting more when I expand my Camponotus' formicarium setup next year.

We need a full update, bro!

My ants have been pretty chill over winter and I hope to update more in the warmer months. I put a lot of effort in the video I shared and I really want to edit more of the clips I've gathered into full videos with an audio experience element to it. I recently purchased some quality lights for better photos and videos that'll help with that. Got little time for my ant hobby and I really wish I could spend more time sharing and updating about them.

I forgot my password to my YouTube channel and I can't get into my account which is a bummer because I set it up in preparation for videos. I'll probably end up making a new channel, lol...

I really hope you'll find time to post more. A quick tour through the current state of the forum will show how badly we need folks like you contributing.
