What type of soil is it? It could be mold.

Ok

1. How often do you disturb your queens?

2. Where are they? Are they in a quiet place?

3. How dark is it?

4. How often and what do you feed them?

Please number your answers and thank you for posting in an acceptable manner.

The soil looks dry. I would spray it with some water.

Please define, "often". Often to me could be every hour, often to you could be once an day.

If you think it's a troll thread, just ignore it and stop feeding the "fire."  If anything, you're causing the problem now.  This is an improvement from before.

Highlytze, I think it's some type of mold, so just turn over the dirt and it should kill it off.

I just figured it was some intentionally confusing response, sorry.
Either way, if you have problems with mold you could try using sand/gravel.

Once or few a day or once or few every few days depends

You should only check on them once a week, because queens get stressed easily.
