Nice, would love to hear more about the colony's development next year after hibernation
These do not hibernate because they have hot winters and autumns (California BTW) . But if I see a slow in development then I will hibernate them.
i'm all the way up in northern California 2 hours up north from San Francisco and i have a 1 year old colony and they had hibernated for 6 months .Currently they have about 40 workers. They are approaching 1 year of age in sometime of early june. The queen was also caught here in a town near me.
