So I'm new here at formiculture but i just wanted to make a journal on my camponotus semitestaceus housed in one of dspdrew's small starter formicariums (highly recommended) They are at 6 workers and doing great!

Sorry I don't know what type of camera to use to post a photo

Any camera with a macro lens will work. Most people I've seen use clip-on macros for their phones. They can be found for sale online.

Looks like a cross of two of my favorite species: Camponotous Castaneus and Camponotous Americanus

The queen has laid some more eggs but nothing is really going on

They’ve had this black pupae for a long time I will get a photo when I can... is it possibly dead?

The pupa and the eggs stage are the longest in Camponotus.

The pupa and the eggs stage are the longest in Camponotus.

it also depends on the colour of the ant. Camponotous Pennsylvanicus cocoons get darker than Camponotous Castenaeus

Nothing has happened I wonder if the pupae is dead because its been almost a month but they are stil caring for it

These are now housed in an empire of ants PH frmicarium. They will be here for a while.
