Like most of my posts directed at OP, this one also had double-meaning. You see the top 3 of the 4 recommended items are "edge guards/proofing" tables/corners as the items describes, this would prevent any test tubes rolling off the table. The other meaning which you guys clearly understood was stop crying thus the baby proofing. So yes, I was being helpful but I was also intentionally being rude. I don't dislike OP, I think he is entertaining but a troll thus trolling a troll.
edit: formatting, dunno why the quote is below -_-
I'm just going to leave this here: https://www.amazon.c...ef=nb_sb_noss_2
Can we just stop the bullying? Its not funny anymore imo

Ant Journal: http://www.formicult...-journal/<br> My colonies: C. Semitestaceus, P. Californicus, V. Pergandei, S. Xyloni.
Let me guess Joe Mama? You all may laugh now I said the joke. This thread, like all others created by the highlight of 2019, has turned to bullying and other non-topic related posts. Hightlyze I suggest only posting topics that have actual meaning to them not “Test tubes are stupid because I accidentally broke one” or “Ant keeping is stupid because one of my queens died.” Ask questions that you can genuinely not google up and post topics that won’t spark controversyJoeWhy did you make this topic if you're not looking for alternatives.... Why make an entire thread, complaining about a broken test tube? This is not a chat room, or a discord server. It is a forum, and should be treated as such.

Hi there! I went on a 6 month or so hiatus, in part due, and in part cause of the death of my colonies.
However, I went back to the Sierras, and restarted my collection, which is now as follows:
Aphaenogaster uinta, Camponotus vicinus, Camponotus modoc, Formica cf. aserva, Formica cf. micropthalma, Formica cf. manni, Formica subpolita, Formica cf. subaenescens, Lasius americanus, Manica invidia, Pogonomyrmex salinus, Pogonomyrmex sp. 1, Solenopsis validiuscula, & Solenopsis sp. 3 (new Sierra variant).
I keep mine in a box covered with a thin layer of black foam. Provides a little insulation and keeps them nice and dark and (hopefully) warm.
Insulation doesn't keep ants warm, lol. Insulation doesn't generate any heat, it insulates. Since ants themselves don't generate any heat, they will be the same temperature as the environment they are in, even with insulation.
Currently Keeping:
Trachymyrmex septentrionalis
Pheidole pilifera
Forelius sp. (Monogynous, bicolored) "Midwestern Forelius"
Crematogaster cerasi
Pheidole bicarinata
Aphaenogaster rudis
Camponotus chromaiodes
Formica sp. (microgena species)
Nylanderia cf. arenivega

There is a important time for everything, important place for everyone, an important person for everybody, and an important ant for each and every ant keeper and myrmecologist alike

Yes I know. I keep a space heater in the room they are stored which I also turn off at night. When it is turned off the room starts getting colder but the box they are kept in remains warmer for longer than it normally would be.

Okay, that's good to hear. I've seen a number of times people being like "I wrap my ants in a blanket in order to make them warm." So I assumed this was one of those instances
