Also a little update; the mini-hearth dried out at 7 or 8ish (and hour to and hour and a half after I cleaned it), but I decided against moving them in because of how taxing the day yesterday was for me, and I have more time to help them move in to the mini-hearth this way as well. Just a min update

DNA..........

Anyways, they are actually quite easy to keep, and fun. You’ll just have to do regular feedings when the colony reaches a couple thousand, though. But a cat or dog is no different.

I like formica a lot because of their speed and so much diversity.

I dumped them in, the queen is just moving her legs while on her side to kick the dead cricket while the workers are running around with brood and making it look like the apocalypse is happening...I don't see how this is less stressful. Also the queen looks to be making an effort to get up. The camera man (my father) is taking a lye down so you won't get actual pictures of the craziness, just mental pictures :). Otherwise, I'll get pics ASAP

They too also have a larvae the size of one of the small workers, if it develops more it may rival their median! I hope it's a major!

They have developed a system of moving larvae in, they take larvae, place them in the designated 'drop zone' and then a worker comes our from the deeper section and puts it where it has to be. Besides that there is a worker with the task of hollowing out the cricket (half her body is in the cricket) and two medians tasked with protecting the queen and exploring the lower section

A nanitic tried to pull the queen, but couldn't alone...I sense there will be a group effort however

I will be watching them until 4 PM central 5 PM Eastern (and I forgot how to do pacific time), so after then I will check on them at 9 PM central, 10 PM eastern, but probably won't post anything until tomorrow as the moving stage they're in is quite a volatile one...

After I typed the post above, I checked on them and found the queen on her back, moved and workers taking the brood back out of the lower chamber (probably due to the humidity that comes with watering the enclosure)

The one worker once again needs her rest, as the queen is now blocking half of the enterance, but will they be able to drag her in, or will she have to overcome the obstacle of her inability to walk recently and walk? I frankly have no idea, but keep a close eye and ear as I continue to update this journal

The queen has been moved and is now once again on her back as the workers huddle together and feast on the cricket. But what will happen, and will the ants figure out how to move the queen, or will she have to? This is going to be a very interesting experience folks, and that's to say the least.

Nothing much is happening now as they transition into a calmer and the next to last if not last stage of the move where they organize their tasks and will collectivley move the queen in after they feast on the cricket. They will do some trophollaxis, feed the brood and then when everyone is ready, move the queen in. At least, that's how they've done it in the past

I also texted the previous owner about Aphrodite, and I may not get a response until later. Yeah, things are pretty insane over here by me (insane by everything being so hectic and crazy)!
