I wouldn't wait 4 weeks. If she's as good as my last queen, she'll have workers by then. I'd say 2-3 weeks for this queen, as she seems to be extremely nervous. Most of the time, Formica queens aren't like that, so I check them every other day. Sometimes every day. My parasitic Formica integra colony is checked every day (they're in a Mini Hearth tho), and they have about 100 brood, all larvae and eggs. This is their second year (first in captivity), and they have 2 biological workers (took from under the rock where the rest of the colony is. One queen remains out there, with some brood and workers, and I plan to get them this week.) with many more on the way.

Ok, I'll check on her in 3 weeks (in case she doesn't lay right away)

So a somewhat quick update; Selene didn't lay so I'll feed her and mock it up to her needing food, and Aphrodite's test tube is getting moldy so I'll clean out and move her into the Mini-Hearth! Yeah, I said it was quick, so have a good COVID-19 Break!

Don't feed her. It is only stressing her out more.

Hi there! I went on a 6 month or so hiatus, in part due, and in part cause of the death of my colonies.

However, I went back to the Sierras, and restarted my collection, which is now as follows:

Aphaenogaster uinta, Camponotus vicinus, Camponotus modoc, Formica cf. aserva, Formica cf. micropthalma, Formica cf. manni, Formica subpolita, Formica cf. subaenescens, Lasius americanus, Manica invidia, Pogonomyrmex salinus, Pogonomyrmex sp. 1, Solenopsis validiuscula, & Solenopsis sp. 3 (new Sierra variant).

I mean, she's heated and I've kept her in the dark for a week, plus her gaster has been bloated for like a week, so IDK what's up with her...

If she doesn’t lay after that, there must be something wrong with her.

No, about the laying. What i meant to say is that some queens just sit there for maybe a year and lay nothing. Had it happen before.

No, you've done every thing pretty much right. It must be Selene. Time for Selene MK2...
